In an exciting development for Manchester United’s academy, another talented prospect has been added to the fold.

Teenager Jaedon Donkor took to Instagram to share the news of his signing with Manchester United following a successful trial.

Donkor expressed his delight: “Happy to announce my signing for @manchesterunited ✍🏾 Thank you God for giving me this opportunity to sign for such a big club, a proud moment for me and my family. All glory to God🙌🏾”

Accompanying this announcement were images of Donkor proudly donning a Manchester United number 11 shirt. His fellow United prospects, Majid Balogun and Louie Bradbury extended warm welcomes in response.

Jaedon Donkor’s journey started at Arsenal’s academy in 2020, having been scouted by East London club Levels FC.

His transfer to Manchester United marks another significant step in his burgeoning career, following a successful trial period during the summer where he evidently left a lasting impression.

His former youth coach, Terry Bobie, captured the sentiment well on Instagram: “Words can’t describe our joy to see one of our very own signing for one of the Biggest Clubs in the world!”

As Manchester United is constrained by Brexit rules and can only sign players under 18 from the UK, there is a growing emphasis on recruiting homegrown talent.

This push towards youth development resulted in the signing of Wales youth international Gabriele Biancheri from Swansea City earlier this year.

Louie Bradbury also joined the academy ranks in 2023, with the likes of Harry Amass, Tyler Fletcher, and Jack Fletcher making their way into the under-18s.
