That doesn’t mean the club doesn’t still draw some of the game’s top names. Former Champions League winners David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are just two examples of free moves to Real Madrid.

The club is now being connected with a transfer for Manchester United sensation Bruno Fernandes, who is also starring for the Portugal national team at the World Cup.

Real Madrid has been interested in Fernandes since his tenure at Sporting CP, according to Record (via Sport Witness), and the European champions could’soon be back’ for him. The Portuguese international is said to be happy at Manchester United but “doesn’t rule out a step up” in the future.

Fernandes had stormed the Premier League upon his debut, putting up unprecedented numbers for the Red Devils and breaking a few all-time records. His form has undeniably deteriorated over the last season and a half. However, he has resembled his previous self at the present World Cup.

This is not the first time Real Madrid has been connected with a transfer for Fernandes, and we’ll see if it bears fruit this time.

According to Transfermarkt statistics, Fernandes has three goals and three assists in 20 games this season across all competitions. Those aren’t huge numbers, but there’s no denying his overall caliber.
