Barcelona considering move for Manchester United defender
Barcelona is apparently interested in Alex Telles, a Manchester United defender who has emerged as a possible replacement for Jordi Alba.
According to a report from Catalan publication El Nacional, Barcelona is interested in signing Alex Telles in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Manchester United defender is being considered as a possible replacement for Jordi Alba.
Alex Telles joined Manchester United from FC Porto in October 2020, but has struggled to establish himself as a regular since then. That’s because the Brazilian’s entrance at Old Trafford came at the same time as Luke Shaw’s comeback. Shaw, on the other hand, has been inconsistent this season, giving Telles a window of chance to secure his spot, especially since Ralf Rangnick took over.

This season, the 29-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal in the process. The player’s achievements have caught the attention of one of Europe’s major teams, with Barcelona interested in buying him from Manchester United.
Barcelona’s interest is understandable, given Jordi Alba’s uncertain future at the Camp Nou. The Catalan giants are expected to undertake a roster overhaul in the summer transfer window, with some of the club’s most senior players, including Alba, likely to be cut. The Spanish international has also been linked with a move to PSG, placing Barcelona in a difficult situation.
As a result, various left-backs have been connected with the La Liga heavyweights, including Alejandro Grimaldo. Grimaldo is Barcelona’s favored replacement for Alba, according to El Nacional. They are, however, making contingency preparations in case they are unable to sign their former academy ace.
Telles has emerged as one of Barcelona’s possibilities in this regard, alongside Hassane Kamara and Marcos Alonso. The Manchester United defender is being considered for a move to Camp Nou, and his offensive prowess might fit in with Xavi Hernandez’s strategy.
