During the weekend, Manchester United won their first major trophy in six years, defeating Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final thanks to goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford. It was a historic day at Wembley, and Erik ten Hag hopes to repeat in the world’s oldest cup competition in June.

United defeated Everton 3-1 in the third round before easily defeating Reading to get to this stage of the FA Cup. They know a win over David Moyes’ West Ham will put them in the last eight for the ninth consecutive season, but Ten Hag is developing a winning mindset and will want to go all the way.

Ten Hag’s side must first overcome a difficult test in West Ham, but how can they line up to play the Hammers after such a strenuous period?

With their busy schedule, it is expected that the Dutchman would make alterations to his starting Eleven for the game. In four matches, the Red Devils defeated Barcelona in a mentally and physically grueling Europa League two-legged last-32 affair, while also securing a league triumph over Leicester and claiming the Carabao Cup.

Ten Hag, the manager of United, doesn’t make many changes, but he may have to for the game against West Ham. Despite this, David de Gea is anticipated to start again in goal, looking to keep another clean sheet after an outstanding performance on Sunday.

Meanwhile, at the defense, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is likely to return after being substituted by Diogo Dalot in the starting lineup against Newcastle. Luke Shaw may require a well-deserved rest after a string of brilliant performances, with Tyrell Malacia an excellent option at left-back in his absence.

Then, in central defense, it may all change with the return of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. Raphael Varane’s minutes have had to be restricted in recent months due to injury worries, while Lisandro Martinez may be given a rest after impressing against Barcelona and Newcastle.

Moving into midfield, Marcel Sabitzer might be recalled, with either Fred or Casemiro leaving. Because the latter is so fundamental to the way United play, he may well stay in the starting lineup to give Fred a rest. Jadon Sancho, who has impressed in the No.10 role since his comeback, is expected to lead the double pivot.

Across the front line, the question of whether Marcus Rashford should start feels enormous. The 24-year-old has been in excellent form in recent weeks, but given his injury scare against Barcelona, Ten Hag should keep him on the bench to ensure he doesn’t overdo it.

This means Alejandro Garnacho will start on the left, while Antony will remain on the right, with Wout Weghorst running through the middle.

Man United’s expected starting Eleven against. West Ham is as follows: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia, Sabitzer, Casemiro, Sancho, Antony, Weghorst, and Garnacho.
