Anthony Martial, the Manchester United attacker, has completed his loan move to La Liga side Sevilla, where he will try to finish the season strongly in their drive for silverware.

Martial arrived in Sevilla on Wednesday morning, when he met with the press and posed for the first time in the iconic red and white stripes.

And the Frenchman was taken aback when he received a sweet note from his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Growing up, Martial idolized the renowned Brazilian striker known as ‘Il Fenomeno,’ as did fellow Selecao star Ronaldinho.

In 2018, he told United’s official website, “My two main heroes were both Brazilian: Ronaldinho and Ronaldo because they had magic in their feet!”

“Almost every player in my age group would probably tell you the same thing back then.”

So it was no surprise that Martial had to fight back tears when he received a message from his hero while standing on the pitch at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

“How are you, Martial?” Hello and welcome to La Liga and Sevilla! “This is a big club in Spain and in Europe,” Ronaldo stated.

“They have a terrific fan base and play in a fantastic city.” So I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you soon. “A big hug and best wishes.”

Despite spending £36 million on him in 2015, United was content to let former Monaco forward leave this month.

And Martial is eager to join his new teammates as they continue to compete on a variety of fronts, including, perhaps predictably, another Europa League appearance.

“I wanted to come so I could play and demonstrate what I can accomplish as part of the team,” Martial stated. “I’ve been working out a lot in the previous few months.” I’m hoping to be able to train with my teammates soon and collaborate with them to compete in the events we’re still in.

“I’m ready to go. I worked hard to get ready, and if the coach wants me to play, I’ll do it right away.”

“Winning a seventh Europa League is a tremendous goal,” he continued. Also, the final is approaching, so we’ll do everything we can to win the cup.

“My goal is to play and help the team, which includes having fun on the field and scoring and assisting.” That is my goal for the next few months.”
