Despite the need to dig in and fight, one of the most talented players on the field stood out for all the right reasons.

Summer signee Jadon Sancho had one of his best outings for United in the win, and Gary Neville named him his man of the match.

“I’m going to go for Sancho,” Neville told Sky Sports. Two assists, and the quality [showed] towards the end. His first-half chipped pass and reverse pass to Fred.”

Sancho set up United’s second and third goals, which were scored by Bruno Fernandes and Fred. He almost got another, too, thanks to an excellent single run that resulted in a wasted opportunity by Anthony Elanga.

Elanga then scored United’s fourth goal to cap off an enthralling triumph in which United had relinquished a 2-0 lead as Leeds leveled the game 2-2 before going on to win 4-2.

Harry Maguire opened the score with a header, netting United’s first corner since April of last year, with Luke Shaw assisting.

Sancho played the entire 90 minutes and stood out for all the right reasons, generating three more chances than any other player.

The winger has been in good form recently, and while resting him with an eye on Atletico Madrid was an option, Ralf Rangnick will be delighted he didn’t.

Sancho, who is still only 21 years old, delivered a classic performance. On a day when United needed to dig deep and prove their toughness, the former Dortmund winger demonstrated that he is a natural fit for the Premier League.
