This season in the Netherlands, Haller has been in superb form under Ten Hag. In 35 games with the Amsterdam club, the 27-year-old has scored 33 goals.

Ten Hag is United’s favored choice for the post at the Theatre of Dreams, according to the Manchester Evening News. Although Ten Hag was interviewed for the position, Manchester United has stated that they interviewed more than one candidate.

Ten Hag’s prospective move to England prompted Haller to issue a warning to his manager. He said to CNN: “He’s astute, and he’s aware of both his strengths and flaws. I believe he strives to improve every day, and as a result, he tries to be there for the players and keep everyone invested in the team.

“But I’d like to point out that every locker room is different, and every team is different, so you’ll need to act differently in each one. It all relies on the dressing room, thus his current quality could be a drawback in the future.

“Let’s see how he performs.” The former West Ham player went on to say: “I believe we are all aware of the situation. The coach has the option to choose what he wants. We’re merely his sidekicks.

“I’m simply thankful for what he did for me, and I hope he makes the greatest option possible for himself. I don’t know anything about Manchester United or how they actually want him, therefore I have nothing to say.

“All I can say is that he needs to listen to his heart and his brain and make the best decision he can.”
