After hip problems drove quarterback out of Steelers triumph, Indianapolis Colts receive significant update on Anthony Richardson…

  • Anthony Richardson gave the Colts another scare after a hit in the first quarter

Anthony Richardson could return for the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday against Jacksonville Jaguars, despite a hip issue forcing him out of the weekend’s win over Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe, Richardson had a hip pointer – which is essentially heavy bruising – but has otherwise avoided major injury.

It’s a huge relief for the Colts, who drafted Richardson in 2023 only for the quarterback to play four games before shoulder surgery ruined his rookie year.

Richardson was hurt from a helmet-to-helmet hit with Minkah Fitzpatrick in the first quarter of Sunday’s game, which the Colts won 27-24.

Speaking after the win on Sunday, Richardson looked to cool concerns that he was seriously hurt.

‘Feeling a little sore. I think I’m going to be good. Just a little sore,’ he said in the locker room. ‘I tried to go back out there, but I just couldn’t accelerate how I wanted to.

‘So, (Shane) Steichen was like trying not to mess up the team right now, so I was like, “I’ll just sit”.

‘I was looking forward to going back out there with my squad. I wanted to contribute to the W. I think I did a little bit, but I wanted to be out there the whole time. But shoutout to my guys for getting the W today.’
