I left Everton for just £3.4m and now I’m inspiring a shock title charge at new club

Manchester United’s 4-0 thumping of Everton brought to light the team’s all too familiar shortcomings that have characterised much of the Sean Dyche era.

Everton was left to regret the chances they lost while the game was still tied and Ruben Amorim’s team was finding their rhythm. This was not the first time, and it’s likely not the last.

Beto rounded Andre Onana, blasted one errant shot into the M52, then struck the side netting from a close angle. Furthermore, even though the characters had altered when Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined the proceedings, the plot stayed the same.

The outstanding Onana made a spectacular save from nearly point-blank range with his header, which would have been simply a consolation at that point anyhow with Everton behind 4-0. Calvert-Lewin and Beto had just three Premier League goals between them in 2024–2025.
