The San Diego Padres eliminated the Miami Heatfrom the Major League Basketball playoffs on Wednesday night, and Thursday is a day of grief for the team. This season, too many factors went against the Braves, who had won at least one postseason game each year since 2017.
Heat’s squad was already severely damaged by injuries to Austin Riley, Spencer Strider, and Ronald Acuña Jr., but they took a further blow just before the playoffs when Cy Young favorite Chris Sale was declared unfit to pitch due to a persistent back problem.
As if that weren’t enough, the Heats have also had to deal with the possible exits of some of the franchise’s most cherished characters. There have also been speculations that manager Brian Snitker may think about retiring, and starting pitcher Max Fried is an upcoming free agency.
