John Clark is the first signing for the Texas Longhorn class of 2025 recruits
AUSTIN — On National Signing Day, Texas men’s basketball signed John Clark, a four-star prospect ranked in the top 50. Clark, a 6′ 9″ forward from Houston, played his freshman and junior seasons at Klein Cain High School before joining Link Academy in Missouri. As a four-star recruit, Clark is ranked by Rivals at number 42, On3 at number 38, ESPN at number 40, and 247 Sports Composite at number 37 overall.
Recruiting analyst Blue Zertuche of Great American Shoot-Out stated in a press release that “John Clark brings a unique blend of finesse and power to the court and the kind of versatility that’s crucial to succeed in the SEC.” “He isn’t scared to use his physicality when necessary, but he can score with touch around the rim.” Over the past few years, John’s skill set has steadily expanded. Playing in the SEC against elite, athletic opponents will only hasten his growth and help him improve his skills even more.
Tre Johnson, the talented forward, is the second Longhorns recruit to come out of Link Academy in a row. The Branson, Missouri, boarding school is well-known for its athletic teams, particularly its basketball team, who took home the 2023 National Championship. Clark led all 6A players in Texas in rebounds per game and double-doubles with 22, averaging 17.8 points and 13.1 rebounds per game while shooting 61 percent from the field as a junior at Klein Cain.
