Manchester United’s best shot for the trophy this season may come in the FA Cup. After all, considering the current state of our roster, the Champions League will be a challenge.

A draw versus Middlesbrough represents a good chance, especially as the game will be played at home. We’re a cut above our opponents if we play to our best — whichever side Ralf Rangnick chooses to field.

Keeping this in mind, I believe we may see some adjustments. After all, some regulars will be returning from all around the country, which is why our South American contingent is unlikely to make the team at all.

Anyway, let’s get to the essential team news right away.

This appears to be an excellent opportunity to shake things up, beginning with the goalkeeper. Dean Henderson should be given a rare start if only to show Rangnick what he’s capable of.

I also anticipate two changes at full-back. Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be in action. Harry Maguire, like Phil Jones, requires playing time. That’s a back two who should be able to get the job done.

I’ve chosen Nemanja Matic to play at the base of midfield, where his expertise will be crucial. Add in the energy of Scott McTominay and the craft of Bruno Fernandes, and we have a terrific midfield threesome.

Marcus Rashford has two goals in two games, so let’s keep him going and give him the start as our primary striker. On the right, we have Jesse Lingard, who has been obliged to stay at the club, and on the left, we have Anthony Elanga.

It’ll also be good to see Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba return to the substitutes’ bench after their injuries.
