BILLY BURNS MAKES SHOCKING RETURN TO ULSTER RUGBY…
In a stunning move, Ulster Rugby has announced the return of fly-half Billy Burns to the province. Burns, who left Ulster in 2020 to join English Premiership side Bath Rugby, has signed a two-year deal with the province.
The news comes as a surprise to many, given Burns’ departure from Ulster just two years ago. However, the 28-year-old has revealed that the opportunity to return to his hometown province was too good to pass up.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Ulster Rugby,” Burns said. “I’ve got a lot of fond memories of my time at the province, and I’m excited to be a part of the team again. I’ve learned a lot during my time at Bath, but I feel like I’ve got unfinished business in Belfast.”
Burns’ return is a significant boost to Ulster’s squad, particularly in the fly-half position. The province has struggled to find consistency at number 10 since Burns’ departure, and his return will provide a welcome injection of experience and skill.
“Billy is a talented player who will add depth and quality to our squad,” said Ulster Rugby head coach, Dan McFarland. “He’s a local lad who knows the province and the supporters, and I’m sure he’ll be excited to get back out onto the pitch at the Kingspan Stadium.”
Burns is expected to link up with his new teammates in the coming weeks, and will be eligible to play for Ulster in the upcoming United Rugby Championship campaign.
The news of Burns’ return has been met with excitement from Ulster supporters, who are eagerly anticipating the new season. With Burns back on board, Ulster will be hoping to mount a serious challenge for silverware in the coming year.
