*SWANSEA CITY FANS ERUPT IN ANGER AS JOE ALLEN LANDS NEW HIGH-PROFILE JOB*
Swansea, Wales – Swansea City fans have taken to social media to express their outrage and disappointment after learning that former midfielder Joe Allen has landed a new high-profile job as a technical advisor at Premier League rivals, Stoke City.
Allen, who spent four seasons with Swansea City from 2007 to 2012, making over 150 appearances for the club, has been a long-time fan favorite. His departure from the club in 2012 was met with sadness, but his subsequent moves to Liverpool and Stoke City were seen as a natural progression in his career.
However, his new role at Stoke City has sparked anger among Swansea City fans, who feel that Allen’s decision to join a rival club is a betrayal. Many fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment, with some even calling for Allen to be stripped of his legendary status at the club.
“Can’t believe Joe Allen would join Stoke City after everything Swansea City did for him,” tweeted one fan. “He’s dead to me now.”
“Joe Allen’s decision to join Stoke City is a slap in the face to every Swansea City fan who supported him throughout his career,” wrote another fan on Facebook. “He’s clearly only looking out for himself.”
Despite the backlash, Allen has released a statement thanking Swansea City fans for their support throughout his career. “I will always be grateful for the opportunities I had at Swansea City and the support I received from the fans,” he said. “However, I feel that this new role at Stoke City is the right move for me at this stage in my career.”
Swansea City fans, however, remain unconvinced. As one fan succinctly put it, “Once a Jack, always a Jack? Not anymore, Joe.”
