Daytona Beach, FL – In a surprise move, NASCAR team owner Roger Penske has announced that Billy Glidden, son of legendary drag racer Bob Glidden, will take over the wheel of the No. 12 Ford Mustang from Ryan Blaney.

Blaney, who has driven for Team Penske since 2018, will move to a new role within the organization, while Glidden will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut at the upcoming Daytona 500.

Billy Glidden, 25, has a strong racing background, having competed in various drag racing and stock car series, including the ARCA Menards Series. He has also worked as a crew member for Team Penske, gaining valuable experience and knowledge of the team’s operations.

“I’m thrilled to have Billy on board,” said Roger Penske. “He’s a talented young driver with a great attitude and a strong work ethic. We’re confident that he’ll do a great job in the No. 12 car.”

Glidden’s father, Bob, was a nine-time NHRA Pro Stock champion and is a member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. Billy Glidden’s move to NASCAR marks a new chapter in the Glidden family’s racing legacy.
