Raiders Sign No. 1 Pick Shedeur Sanders to Four-Year Deal

The Las Vegas Raiders have officially secured their future at quarterback, as they have agreed to terms with Shedeur Sanders, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, on a four-year contract. Sources confirmed the deal, which is set to be worth a reported $40 million, including signing bonuses and incentives that could push the total value higher.

Sanders, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, turned heads with his impressive performance at Colorado in his sophomore season, where he led the Buffaloes to a successful campaign. His combination of poise in the pocket, mobility, and accuracy made him the consensus top quarterback prospect in this year’s draft class. His skills quickly elevated him as the Raiders’ top choice, despite the team’s rebuilding process under new head coach Josh McDaniels.

In a statement, Sanders expressed excitement about joining the Raiders and their passionate fanbase, noting that he’s ready to make an impact right away. “I’ve worked my entire life for this moment. I’m grateful for the opportunity to prove myself and bring a championship mentality to this team,” Sanders said.

The signing of Sanders is seen as a significant step in the Raiders’ long-term strategy to revitalize their roster and return to playoff contention. With veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo also on the roster, it remains to be seen whether Sanders will start immediately or sit behind Garoppolo as he adjusts to the NFL.
