Jon Gruden’s exile from the NFL may be coming to an end
Jon Gruden is back, landing a job with Barstool Sports as he looks to return to the NFL in the future.
Gruden has been out of the league since resigning from the Las Vegas Raisers in 2021 following the leaking of emails that showed him using homophobic and racist language
Since then, Gruden has been running a YouTube and TikTok channel where he previews and reviews games, often walking fans through plays on his whiteboard.
Gruden is now set to return in a much bigger role, teaming up with Barstool in an unknown capacity.
Barstool president Dave Portnoy confirmed the news with a video showing the former Buccaneers head coach talking Barstool employees through his famed “Spider Y 2 Banana” play.
The video was captioned “Let’s go.” It won’t be the first time Gruden has worked in a TV capacity, having served as an ESPN analyst between 2009 and 2017.
Gruden says in the video: “You guys want to learn some football? Seriously, do you? Alright, let’s pound the rock.”
Gruden is currently locked in a lawsuit with the NFL, suing commissioner Roger Goodell over allegedly “selectively leaking” emails that cost him his job. He is not likely to get another head coaching gig while that lawsuit is in progress.
The emails emerged because of an investigation into the workplace behavior at the Washington Commanders. The emails came up because Gruden sent them to former Washington president Bruce Allen.
