Forgotten Eagles youngster set for long-awaited return…

Forgotten West Coast Eagles Youngster Elijah Hewett Set for Day One of Pre-Season After Injury-Hit 2024

West Coast Eagles young gun Elijah Hewett is set to make his long-awaited return to full pre-season training after a frustrating 2024 campaign marred by injuries. The 19-year-old midfielder, who was drafted by the Eagles with pick 14 in the 2022 AFL Draft, showed plenty of promise in his first season but was sidelined for much of the year due to persistent injuries, limiting his opportunities to make an impact at the senior level.

Hewett, a promising inside midfielder with an eye for the ball, was expected to play a significant role in the Eagles’ rebuild, but after a solid start to his AFL career, injuries derailed his progress. However, the young Eagle is now on track to begin pre-season training with a clean bill of health, much to the relief of coaches and fans alike.

The 2024 season was a tough one for Hewett, with hamstring and ankle injuries preventing him from building any real momentum, and he made just a handful of appearances in the senior side. Still, there remains a great deal of excitement about his potential, with many at the club viewing him as one of the key pillars for the team’s future success.

As he prepares to re-enter the fray, Hewett’s recovery and return to full fitness will be closely monitored, and if he can stay injury-free, the Eagles are hopeful he can make an immediate impact in 2025, contributing to their resurgence under coach Adam Simpson.
