U2 announces 11 extra gigs to prolong their residency in Las Vegas through 2024…

U2 added more dates to their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency in Las Vegas.

Following the band’s first full live performances since 2019 and the first nine shows of the residency at the unique venue, the band announced an additional 11 dates set for 2024 on Thursday. This brings the residency to 36 performances.

Lead singer Bono, guitarist The Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Bram van den Berg are set to return to the stage on Jan. 26, 2024. The last scheduled performance is set for Feb. 18.

A month after Dead & Company wrap up their own Sphere residency in August, the Eagles will swoop in on Sept. 20 and 21 for the first of four Friday/Saturday concerts at the venue.

The band — Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill, and Deacon Frey — is then scheduled to play weekends in Sept. and Oct., and through the weekend of Nov. 8 and 9. After a month off, Eagles will return to the Sphere for two more weekends in the first half of December. They’ll be back again in January 2025 for four additional shows at the end of the month.

An artist presale registration for the Sphere shows is open now at the Eagles’ site, where fans can also see general on-sale and limited VIP ticket information.

The Eagles mark the fourth band to play the Sphere, following U2 — who opened the venue — Phish, and Dead & Company.

The Sphere residency comes as Eagles are in the midst of their Long Goodbye “official farewell tour,” which kicked in 2023 with a string of arena dates and is expected to run into 2025. “The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” the band said in a statement last year.

“Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”
