Ally McCoist advised Manchester United to sign Tammy Abraham from Roma to solve their shortage of strikers but how feasible is that plan? All summer Manchester United have made a business of chasing players who have no desire whatsoever to play for them and this has left them stranded for the most part with just over two weeks left before the transfer window closes.

To be clear on the matter Ally McCoist got his analysis about Tammy Abraham spot on. Tammy will be a wonderful deal for the Red Devils if he is available. He banged in 17 goals last season for Roma and created 4 for his teammates. The fact that he also played for Chelsea means he will be able to adapt seamlessly into Manchester United if he is brought in. The big question is whether or not Tammy wants to join Manchester United.

Tammy Abraham’s sojourn in the Premier League once before was not always a happy one. Going to Roma was an effort for him to reinvent himself which he has done so effectively so will he want to return to the Premier League so soon after enjoying some success in Roma? Thankfully Roma cannot promise Tammy Abraham Champions League football this season as that would have made it extremely difficult for him to go to a Manchester United that is playing in the lowly Europa League Cup.

Even if Abraham decides to play for Manchester United which is extremely unlikely will Roma agree to sell him. Roma showed their ambition as a club when they signed no less a coach than Jose Mourinho, the self-styled Special One. Does it make sense that they sell what is probably the best tool the coach currently has to lift the club to a whole new level like he is already doing? Tammy has been very vital to the project Jose Mourinho is executing at Roma and it is obvious the Portuguese manager will want to keep him.

Another reason why Tammy Abraham may be reluctant to join Manchester United is the fact that he may not get as much playing time there as he currently enjoys in Roma. If he joins Manchester United, he will be in a team that already has Anthony Martial, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford. This may also affect Tammy’s choice should he be approached about signing for Manchester United not to mention the attraction of playing under Jose Mourinho.
