But one glaring issue has been the club’s ailing infrastructure, particularly the state of Old Trafford.

Now that the takeover saga is approaching its conclusion, Ratcliffe intends to fast-track the modernization of the stadium, according to reports in The Times.

The renovation of Old Trafford has been a significant point of discussion in negotiations over Ratcliffe’s investment. Funds from Ratcliffe’s anticipated £1.3 billion injection into the club will be allocated to address these concerns.

Presently, Old Trafford can accommodate 74,310 spectators, but Ratcliffe is exploring the possibility of increasing the capacity to a staggering 90,000.

The recent breakthrough in the takeover saga, along with Ratcliffe’s offer, is expected to be officially ratified at an upcoming board meeting.

He outlined six non-negotiables for a Manchester United takeover, including a new sporting project, the redevelopment of Old Trafford, a modernized training ground, complete redevelopment of the surrounding land for a fan-focused experience, debt reduction, and a commitment to the club’s values and principles.

In light of recent events, he added a sixth point, emphasizing the need for leadership that promotes a fairer, more inclusive, and diverse game, while adhering to the club’s core values and principles.

He questioned how a minority stakeholder could positively impact the club to achieve these goals, leaving more questions than answers.

He made it clear that his preference is for a complete exit of the Glazer family, who he believes have overstayed their welcome in Manchester, though uncertainties still linger.
