For nearly a year now, the Glazer family has been exploring strategic options for Manchester United, including the possibility of selling the club.

Despite receiving substantial bids from Sheikh Jassim, a Qatari banker, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a petrochemicals billionaire from INEOS, both of whom have valued the club at over £5 billion, the Glazers have yet to make a decision on the club’s future.

While fans eagerly await the American owners’ decision, there are reports from the Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb suggesting that Sheikh Jassim may be redirecting his interest toward Serie A powerhouse Inter.

Inter, who were the finalists in last season’s Champions League, are currently owned by 31-year-old Steven Zhang, who became the club’s youngest chairman in 2018.

However, with a looming loan repayment deadline set for May 2024, questions have arisen about Zhang’s long-term commitment to the club. The Raine Group has reportedly been searching for potential buyers.

Tuttomercatoweb reports (via Team Talk) that Sheikh Jassim is now considering joining the list of potential bidders for the Serie A club.

However, negotiations have hit a roadblock due to Zhang’s €1.2 billion (£1 billion) valuation for Inter, which Sheikh Jassim is reportedly unwilling to meet.

In the midst of this ongoing takeover saga, Manchester United’s CEO, Richard Arnold, provided a brief update at the club’s first Fans’ Forum of the season on Tuesday, stating, “All I can say at this moment is the work is ongoing.”
